The graffiti in that picture should be a crime. LOL.

Just joking, but I don't think it should be allowed on private property (obviously.

But I don't believe it should on abandon buildings, houses, etc. And on shit like the supports for bridges, as it doesn't really pose a threat to anyone, and depending on the artist, it makes it look better and less dull.

I love it, some of the work is great. It is still a crime, no matter how you put it. It's just like any other form of art, you do it where you're permitted, not wherever you want. That's like going to the store, drawing in all the sketchbooks, and just leaving, but a much larger scale. Think about it.

You shouldn't be able to deface someone's private property without repercussions.

I love graffiti, but yes, it is a crime. I think it should always be crime because once they say it is not building will have it on them. Graffiti on some places is nice but there is a limit,

If it's on an abandoned subway/other vacant lots, I don't see the harm. It'll just be renovated anyway.

Crime is a very vague statement when it comes to graffiti, because it's not street art. they are two different things.

Banksy is a street artist, and toys who run around the city spraying their alias on an apartment building is graffiti.

I think graffiti in half of the cases is people just being assholes, but there are very unique ways of writing your name that can be very beautiful.

Street art is constructive, Graffiti tagging is destructive. That's the way I mostly look at it now-a-days.

graffiti shouldn't be a crime, i just think people who do that should think of better places to do it instead of fucking up every damn corner in the streets.

There's really only two types of graffiti. The stupid gang related shit, and the art. I think the "artsy" graffiti e.g. Murals, panaromics, inspiring pictures should not only be allowed but encouraged in communities so as to add character to them. On the other hand, the people caught doing the gang related graffiti should be punished.

It's a very blurred line. Myself being a graffiti artist, I am all for it, though driving down the street and seeing an eyesore tag on someone's garage door or fence makes me sick.

I used to "write". It honestly depends what and where you do it. What ruins it is the street gangsters and 1ers that are trying to get up. Obviously it's a crime but I enjoy seeing stuff from RK, revok, MSK...

In my opinion, I love seeing graffiti, as long as it is somewhat decent and can be seen by all and not be offensive (i.e: small children, elderly, parents).
I personally like it, and I think there should be places where it is allowed.

I honestly like graffiti. People may say that it is bad and stuff but it brightens up our old boring world. I've seen some amazing graffiti in the past and I think it should be allowed in certain areas.

When you ask if graffiti is a crime it brings up a interesting question, What is public space? If it truly is public then we should be able to do what ever we would like. Now just because its public doesn't mean there are not any laws, For example you cant run around naked at a public park. That is common sense, Obviously there is a law against public obscenity, but there are no laws against art in a private domain so why would you bring laws against art into the public domain. Some people say that it defaces the property and makes it ugly to look at, but you cannot govern something based on opinion. Maybe my definition of beauty is different than yours. This is where the confusion occurs because you have found yourself in a paradox. To me there is no answer to this question everyone has differing opinions on the variables. Rather than should it be legal we should be asking ourselves, What is public space?, How do we govern opinions, and What is art?

I love it. Been in it for years. Sometimes it looks awful, sometimes it's amazing. Its like anything else, there's good and bad. There should be more legal spots for sure. But the illegal is what sets it apart. First you need to get good. Then you need to learn your lines so well you can do it in the dark and quick as possible but still make it look good. There's no other art form like that. Most people wouldn't mind it if it was legal, but just like anything else in the world follow the money. If people could write anything anywhere there would be no advertising space and revenue. Plus it would be very hard to censor, it would cost a lot of money. Sorry for the rant that's all over the place. I never post on here really, but it's a subject very near and dear to me.

Defacing someone else property is wrong, but graffiti art is wonderful.

It depends were you do it and if your good at it. If its on something like an abandoned building, and good at it, I'd say its ok, but if its in a park and done by kids, its not ok.

I think if it would be legal, people would start doing it more often for a lil bit, but eventually it would die out.

Nothing is cool if it's legal.
