Chicago has the strongest gun laws in the United States. Yet, there has been 449 school age children shot this year and 62 school age children murdered just this past year.
I am not sure why you don't ever hear about this in the media. I don't know if it is because it would make gun control laws look bad or if it was because most of the kids who were shot and killed were minorities.

EDIT: About 1 week ago the federal appeals court said that these restrictions were unconstitutional and gave Illinois 180 days to change its laws or appeal the decision. Gun laws in Illinois
