well its a tough question to answer.depends on the level of your comfort.if you are comfortable sharing your feelings with a girl friend,you should have one.and if you aren't comfortable then you shouldn't.i don't feel all girlfriends are like diseases.there are exceptions too.some girl friends are a real understander and they guide you through tough situations.stand by you in difficult time.so you should never generalize this quote.
it depends to individually , those who has great love from their gf/bf, they will say love is great .but when you talk about those who had big problem , of course they will say love is terrible experience .am i right .
Having a girlfriend is a choice. If one feels he can be more driven by having a girl besides him then he must go for it but he thinks girls are only distractions then it is better for him to be alone. Girlfriends or boyfriends play same role as gender has nothing to do with it.
