A German 43, accused of having deliberately infected with the AIDS virus (HIV) to a former girlfriend has been charged by a judge in Cergy (near Paris). The man is in custody and, according to the judicial police, had spread to a dozen women.
"The detainee has denied the facts. It seems that this man had numerous contacts with women for several years through 'webs' of contacts on the Internet, such as Meetic, but also through Facebook. The death toll could be revised soon to rise. It has been argued, saying he was not sure of having the [virus] AIDS, "said a source close to the case quoted by Le Parisien, which revealed the case.
After being arrested, analysis has confirmed that Robert G. Rade- Security-guard by profession has HIV. The judicial police investigation has determined, in fact, that last year the man was informed by several of his former girlfriends that were infected.
"Several women contacted him after discovering they were HIV positive. They are already under intense therapy [ART]. According to several witnesses, the man refused categorically to use condoms. Has acted with full knowledge of the facts," continues the above source.
Rade-Robert G. has been accused of "administration" and "attempted administration of harmful substances." You can be sentenced to 15 years in prison, or 20 if it is considered that there was premeditation.
The complaint
The arrest came last July 13 after a former girlfriend claims. The woman's lawyer explained that since the summer of 2010 his client maintained for six months a "serious relationship" with the man.
After discovering she was HIV positive after, she realized it was her partner who was infected when the man refused to get tested for HIV and wanted to continue having sex without protection, his lawyer said.
According to counsel, the woman decided to report it when her former lover more contacts on Facebook and numerous 'sites' appointments.
After multiple investigations, the judicial police of Cergy established that the detainee would knowingly infected a dozen women, according to Le Parisien. Investigations continue delving into the past relations of the man, who has had multiple partners in France, Germany and the UK. Apparently, the detainee traveled frequently to Europe.
For several years, French courts handed down sentences of imprisonment against those who have polluted their partner when they knew they were contaminated. In Spain there have been convictions in this line. But this week the Supreme Court ruled that no crime to hide the infection if the HIV positive take appropriate prophylactic measures.
