Homeschool or Traditional school

School has started here in our country. I have read an article about a family who prefers to teach their children at home. Unlike with the traditional school setting, the parents are the ones teaching at their own pace and time. This is what we call homeschool.

Homeschool is legal and supervised by correspondence schools. Stanford University and Harvard University are just two examples of schools who have accepted homeschooled students for which we know they have highly selective standards of admission.

Which one do you prefer, homeschool or traditional school?

I'm going to choose Traditional school any day, since, well first of all social advantage. You develop social connections that may last forever, not to mention you get some friends. Meaning they are good for your future. You also develop some social skills, learning to speak with complete strangers etc. Traditional school also offers teamwork between teachers and students.
Homeschool may seem more like a prison. You are all alone in a room reading and learning and you even have prison guards Mom and Dad or homeschool teacher. Sure you can learn in your own pace, but you still don't develop that important skill of expressing your thoughts with a voice.
Also in homeschool you might not get an honest opinion on your work. I mean teachers and fellow students are more harsh on you than your mom and dad. Also how can you deal failure if you are taught to win all the time?

In conclusion I choose Traditional school for its social benefits and more.

RE: Homeschool or Traditional school

very home school kid ive met has been well educated and responcible. most have life skills and problem solving.

traditional school kids for the most part are better socalized but are not responcble and have no life skills; problem solving seems to be blame it on someone else.

Homeschool is always good as you can monitor your children be safe at home while learning. BUT, I would prefer traditional school because child's development and learning not only be based by book but also through socialization. A personality of individual is sharpen in mingling with others. At home, there is no goal because the child is learning alone with the teacher. Unlike in traditional school, there is a competition, performance, achievements, activities, friends and more thing to experience with to develop the child's personality as a whole.

Well, since there is no Harvard or Stanford University in our country, I still think traditional schools work best for the students. Because you see sometimes not all parents want to tutor their kids. Some parents even hire tutors to teach their kids. But if there are schools here who are accredited to have home school programs in our country, then it would be a good idea to teach the children at home where they are safe from bullying from other kids.

I still prefer traditional school. Children will not learn much at home. No challenge. No interactions. With that, his social interactions might be affected.

Both has its benefits and it may depend on the need of a person. But I would still prefer a traditional or a regular school because you can learn not only courses or subjects but how to deal with real people and experience life as it should be.

I'd Go for Traditional School because the children can grow and nurture there although there are bad sides which can involve peers and vices.

I am still for traditional school where there are interactions between the giver and the receiver of information. WE have this home school but it is called _open University" where one is taught through modules. There's nothing wrong about it as it is being handled and supervised by people with good education background. But what is lacking here is the stimulation brought by face-t--face interaction between the learner and the information provider. If one is not well stimulated, learning process is not completely successful!

Obviously traditional school because you need to get friends. If you're home schooled, you're basically a loner.

While a home school is really tempting, I still would go for a traditional school. That way children would learn not just academic lessons but also social interaction. Children ought to know the real world outside of the house. To keep the safety of the children going to formal schools, parents should always be on guard and updated of the current progress of their child. But I have high respects for the parents involved in education in a home setup. It's just that I think a formal traditional education is more accepted and proven.

I think i woùld choose the traditional one! Children will be able to socialize with others, which is also one of the important factor in personal development of a child. In traditional school,he will not only learn academics, but also engaging to different activities like sports.

I think I will still go for traditional school. Students learn lots of things in school. They even developed their social skills. They meet different kind of persons and they learn different attitude of people by this. They gain confidence when they socialized. That's why if ever I got my kids in the future, I will still go for traditional school. ^^
