I'm pretty sure you can just by going on your FaceBook and revoking access to Instagram.
Not 100% sure on how/if you can though.

The way I do it is if I bought an IG I'd swap it onto a fresh account, verify your email, put your number and if you want to fully secure it link your FB.
Also, the other account you swapped it from I'd delete it just to be safe.
