Welcome to my tutorial on how to create 3D text and add a material to that text.
Well we will be making something like these:
and
First off, you'll need to download Cinema 4D. And it's not exactly free.
When you first open C4D, you'll have this.
To insert text, go to Objects, Spline Primitive, and Text.
Now you should have this:
Now to make it 3D do these steps.
Now your text should look like this:
*Note, this is a rendered preview [Press CMD/Ctrl R to render]. It's just easier to see that it's 3D and has depth when it's rendered
To make the text wider, you increase the Third box next to Movement. [Mine is at 34 m]
Now that's it if that's all you want to do.
But I'll show you how to add color to your text.
To do this, you have to go to the Materials box in the bottom.
Now you hit File and New Material. (or just hit CMD/Ctrl N)
You should have this sphere in that box now. Shown here:
To edit the texture, just double click it and add the effects you want. (I just made it red with a glow for this example)
Now you obviously want to apply that material to your text.
It's real simple, just drag the sphere onto the Extrude NURBS title in the top right.
Your text should take on the material. Shown here:
*Again, this is rendered
And that's how you create 3D text and add a material to it!
This is very simple, I learned how to do it in 30 minutes.
If you have any questions, feel free to PM me or post here.
