You are better off using Photoshop, not Gimp.

Yeah but i cant get photoshop and i have been told GIMP is the next best thing.

What are your opinions on it? is it adequate for making decent banners / logos / advertising stuff?

I could always make one if you would like, depending on the quality since i'm not the best at gfx.
