8.5/10 I go to this site both on my home connection and my school's connection; they both appear to function quite well. However, the school's computer is a bit slower when pulling up the site and posting.
Threads seem to take a while to actually load fully, probably because of the amount of images the browser has to load for every single award:
Google Chrome Network Analysis of this thread
The transparent purple bar is where the page began loading the very first image, the solid purple bar is the image currently being loaded.
The icons are loaded after the browser has loaded the styles and content, but since the browser is too busy loading and displaying the icons, each fragment of the page gets displayed in between each image that is loaded and gives the appearance of lag.
Of course, I could be wrong. But I tried loading the same thread with images turned off and it loaded in 3 seconds instead of 6. That's 3 seconds quicker. 3 seconds is a lot of time.
One way of getting around this is to use CSS sprites instead of having one image per award. But I'm not sure how your awards system is set up, so I'm not sure how easy that would be to switch-over.
Yeah I understand that, but the whole speed of the process is based on the server. There's plenty more images on other sites that don't have this issue. You're right, it is probably putting pressure on our server, but the thing is it shouldn't be. We have more than enough resources to handle it. I'll speak with Demise I suppose.
Crayo, as you are not going to use my dedicated for the IRC, why don't you use the dedicated for hosting the website. It has these specs: AMD 2000+, 1GB RAM, 80GB HDD, 5 TB Bandwidth,100Mbps Connection. We can probably upgrade the specs once we start generating traffic which this dedi may not be able to handle.
