Professional Review:
Action adventure games of the quality of God of War don't come around often. God of War takes a tale of vengeance, set against the backdrop of ancient Greek mythology, and turns it into an epic adventure filled to the brim with bloody, stylish, over-the-top combat, challenging puzzles, and highly impressive production values. So many games within the action adventure genre tend to limit their focus so heavily to either the combat or puzzle-solving side, while leaving the opposing side as little more than an afterthought, but God of War does nothing of the sort. Instead, it blends these two equally important parts extremely well. To put it in no uncertain terms, this is one of the best action adventure games on the PlayStation 2, and it should not be missed.
A Personal Review By GENIUS:
I honestly love this game! It's probably out of my 3 top favorite games of all time. The game was an excellent one for the PS2 Console, although it may be a little out-dated. So the story starts of with Kratos, the main character, who is a fierce Spartan warrior, who served the god of war, Ares, for 10 years. And for those 10 years, Kratos has been having nightmares. One night, Ares commands Kratos to sacrifice and kill his wife and daughter. Kratos is forced to do the crime, but after that feels extremely guilty. So he sets out on an adventure to find the only powerful weapon that could kill a god. The weapon is located in Pandora's Box. So Kratos seeks out on an adventure to find the weapon, and use it to kill Ares, as revenge.
What I liked about this game was the blood, gore, graphics, details, and story plot. The time setting was picked to be set in Ancient Greece Before Common Era (B.C.E.). The graphics are one of the best of any game I've seen. The story really is intense and touches you in the heart. You really feel for Kratos, and what he's been going through. The violence is very strong in this game, but it's in a fun way.
Some dislikes are that this game is not for children! The gore, violence, blood, language, and nudity are not suggested for people under 17. So I don't suggest you play this in front of your little brother/sister. Other than that the game, is pretty well set, except that the difficulty is very hard, so you may get stuck at some place and become very frustrated, but don't give up. EVER.
Graphics: They are certainly very well developed and modern, although not perfect and crystal clear. Graphics get 7/10.
Difficulty: This game is EXTREMELY difficult, especially if you don't pay attention to directions or listen. The game is filled with many puzzles and missions in which can take a lot of time to complete. Difficulty gets a 9/10.
Story: As I said above, I really love the story. It seems so realistic and it truly touched me. Story gets a 9/10
Overall Rating: 9/10
