Professional Review:
The original God of War was an action gaming masterpiece from start to finish. Its Greek mythology-derived storyline, blanketed with larger-than-life set pieces and timeless characters and themes, provided the perfect backdrop to an incredibly intense and engaging action romp. We dubbed it our pick for not only Best Action Game but overall Game of the Year for 2005, and to this day it stands as one of, if not the greatest, action games ever released. Though Kratos wound up sitting atop his throne as the God of War at the first game's finale, his tale was far from over. God of War II picks up right where the original left off and follows the anti-hero on his continued path of revenge.
When the sequel was announced, fans wondered not if it would be a worthy follow-up but whether Sony's Santa Monica Studio would actually be able to outdo the original. After all, rather than making the leap to next-gen, the developer decided to keep the franchise on the PlayStation 2 for the time being. Citing matured technology that would allow them to focus on content rather than having to work through the growing pains associated with in-progress engine development, Santa Monica Studios took the road most traveled and wound up producing what amounts to a near-perfect sequel. A Review By GENIUS:
Well I'd just like to start off saying, this is one of my top 3 favorite games of all time. This game is seriously one of the best I've ever played, on my PlayStation 2 gaming console. I just love the story, plot, layout, and of course the main character, Kratos. Kratos is back in a all new fun adventure packed game after his 1st game, God of War I. Kratos, now returns as the new God of War, after killing his long time master and enemy, Ares, the old god of war. There is now a new conflict that Kratos faces, which is a new enemy standing in his way, Zeus, the king of Greek gods. Zeus decides to help Kratos by sending him Sword of Olympus, one of the most powerful weapons in the world, which Zeus even used himself, to end the great Titan War. After receiveing the sword, Zeus decides to betray Kratos (you) by stabbing him and killing him. Kratos is sent to the underworld but is revived back to life, with the help of his new friend, the titan, Gaia.
As I say for all other M-rated games, don't play this game in front of children. There is really graphic intense violence, blood, gore, language, and nudity. The game is best to be played on PlayStation 2! The graphics and sounds are amazing, I'm serious. They have advanced over the years, but it is truly breath-taking. The story plot and characters are excellent choices for gameplay.
Some dislikes are that sometimes you get very stuck on the difficult puzzles throughout the game. This game is very difficult at times, so you have to use your brain a lot
Graphics: They are truly advanced. Graphics gets a 9/10
Playability: The game is difficult yet fun. It gets a 10/10
Difficulty: Very hard games at times. It gets a 10/10
Story: amazing story plot throughout the whole game. 10/10
