Human Cloning in the future

I recently read a few articles about cloning becoming increasingly advanced.
However don't you think that the clones might end up taking over the world in the future?

Sooner or later, we will develop clones to the extent that we can make them stronger, smarter and faster. They would become another group of humans that we might even end up going to war with them.

I just wanted to know your opinions about this.

Well I guess it depends, would we not end up becoming them I guess? Since they would be clones they would be alike us in every way.

I honestly think it is a great idea. If the human race is going to force its dominance upon the universe, they might as well make themselves near perfect.

Oui, but would they be making themselves perfect, or perfect copies?

I suppose perfect is the wrong word, in fact the worst word I could have used alone. What I should have, and meant to say was they might as well make themselves as near to what they would view as perfection, which in all reality is the total opposite of perfection.

I think human cloning should not be done, it will just make more troubles to human kind. Unless we don't give them the intelligence they are not going to do anything, BUt I think Human cloning is in process & is being done somewhere.

Well if they make cloned humans into brainless working things, wouldn't that just be unethical?
Pretty sure in the next few years, there are going to be tons of news articles about this

hmm maybe you are right but human cloning is as(or more) dangerous as Atom Bomb.

Sorry, I don't get you at all.
You can't compare human cloning to a atom bomb. =/

No you can't. I believe that the cloning of humans is the wrong move for science.
What are the positives? Well the cloning of humans could lead to huge developments in medicine and ruling out birth defects or hereditary illness. By cloning human cells and genomes, you can discover and edit the infected cells or damaged DNA to remove chance of illness or developmental disease. That's a pretty good thing right?
Well in my opinion it would lead to greater social issues. New generations will be stronger and stronger, leading to greater competition socially, with people not having to worry about risks of illness, so jobs will be harder to find. Worldwide, there will be overpopulation as people bypass natural selection.
Whilst in the short run, cloning may solve many vital problems, in the long run, it could have much more serious implications.

Loving your HQ posts Wired- =]
Keep it up

On topic:
I completely agree with you about a population increase in Earth, but don't you think that by that time, humans would have developed technology to live on other planets.
In some topic I read a while ago, it said that the Hilton was planning on building the first space hotel on the moon, launching in 2020 or something.

You have a point, but in reality, how on earth in 8 years are we going to be living on other planets, when we can't go to the moon again?
By the rate that science is improving, basically everyday, human cloning could well be in place before we move onto other planets.
Another point, it will take forever to travel to planets far away such as Mars. It would take years to go any further. I think moving planets is flawed. :-/

I agree Wired, it takes at least 2-4 years I think to build a rocket to the moon, and at this point we can't even go to mars, I say it's totally likely cloning will be available before mars.

Then we would be screwed with overpopulation ;)

When we will be able to make clones of ourselves, we should edit our clones so that they won't have our evilness and greed in them. Else, what mentioned to happen in the OP is most likely to happen.

But don't you think that we have much time before we can do perfect cloning?

We probably will edit them to become our undswerving loyal slaves, as that is how humanity is.

Sheep have already been clones, I do not believe it will be much longer for humans.

That will be crazy and amazing to do it soon human and animals shall arrive.

This makes no sense. Humans and animals have already arrived.
I don't believe they will be able to alter a person's personality for some while, as that is so variable. It can be a mindset from birth, or change due to circumstance.

However it would then become a ethical and a religious problem.
One of the most asked questions would be whether we have the right to play God.

This is a huge question that is strongly debated. Again it ties into my original argument, detailing the pros and cons of cloning or genetic modification. I recently did a presentation on designer babies and it's a subject closely related to this. Whilst modifying babies to allow them to grow without any chance of hereditary disease or something similar is a great thing, but the fact this surpasses natural selection and it brings the chance of an aryan race, with people modifying a babies genes to allow them to have specific hair/eye colour is a problem.
