So to explain this story I am going to need to provide a little bit of a back story. At my school (I am a junior in high school) there is a senior whom I will call Matt. The staff of the school have basically made Matt the icon of the entire school. He is the class president, he does the announcements everyday, he commentates the sports events, he hosts all of the shows, and every Thursday he hosts a news kind of show the school makes wrapping up the week, where he is basically supposed to seem like a news anchor. The "show" is actually very poorly made, as I believe I could do a better job myself editing it all on a Tamagotchi, than the whole "crew" (AV class) does editing on a number of Macs, but that's not the point. Matt, besides having a big head, due to the fact that he believes he is a celebrity, is a major douche bag. He believes he is better than everyone else, and in no way tries to hide it. He has some friends, but they tend to be other members of the student council or other big headed fuck wads that have no idea what the word "humble" means. I personally cannot stand Matt, I cringe every time i see his mouse-shaped head sitting on top of his body which by comparison to his (literally and metaphorically) big head looks like the body of a baby. So as a little joke for my group of friends I made a Vine about Matt. The basic summary of the Vine is a clip of Matt from one of the "shows" the school plays every Thursday, and in this particular segment Matt is talking about a fellow classmate who is working on getting her pilots license. Near the end of the segment Matt says "Who knows, maybe one day as you're boarding a plane, a voice will come over the intercom and say 'Hello, this is your captain ____'." I then took that clip and cut it off after "say" and put a clip of one of the planes crashing into the World Trade Center, with the audio of someone shouting "Allahu akbar!" in the background. Now, before you go and reply to this saying how fucked up I am, or how offensive that is, I will let you know that I do not give a fuck. I think it is funny. Yes, I know it is messed up, but it is a fucking joke. There is no need to piss yourself because someone on the internet said something you don't like. Anyways, I posted the Vine at maybe 10:30 PM, tweeted it, and went to bed. When I woke up the next morning I was kindly greeted by a list of notifications from both Vine and Twitter as well as multiple text messages from people praising me for the Vine. I was pleasantly surprised. I initially made the Vine as a joke for my small group of friends, and it was quickly becoming more than that. At school that day multiple people came up to me and praised me for the Vine I made. I also sat in multiple classes to see others in the class showing each other the Vine. By this time, I had realized just how much people at my school liked the Vine, so I decided I would make another. While I was in my graphic design class, I finished up my work and opened up Adobe After Effects (CS6 if you are curious) and made another. In this Vine I took a clip from Matt's "show" and cut out him saying his "sign-off line" which is "...and remember, it's a great day to be a Knight." (A Knight is our school mascot.) I then got the same clip of the 9/11 attack (yes, I know I am an unoriginal piece of shit) and after the plane collides with the WTC, the clip of mat saying his "infamous" line fades in. I then posted the Vine and waited. This Vine too blew up (note that when I say "blew up" i only mean like 100+ views, not large six-fucking-digit numbers. I'm not fucking Vine famous.) People quickly began spreading around the 2nd installment of the "Matt Vine." I got the same response that I had previously gotten, but on a slightly larger scale. Now, many people know me as "the guy who made the Matt Vine" or "that funny Vine guy." It is now currently the next day and people are still talking about it and watching it during lunch and class. I am also sure Matt himself has seen the Vine and I can only imagine he is pissed off beyond belief. I just thought I would share this with you lovely people of FK.
