Impact of the human race

What impacts have humans made on this world? Are they positive or negative?

Would Earth be better off without humans?

Are there more good people or bad people in this world?

Well obviously humans have caused a negative impact on the world.
"Humans are just like a virus" <-- quote from Matrix.

Just think, how many mountains have we destroyed, how many animals have become extinct or rare, how many animals have died just to feed us.
We've also destroyed the environment, entire forests have been cut down just for our wants.

Why are humans the only species to have such a negative impact on the whole world? We are just so greedy and... plain bad.

Well who is else going to use it? We are here on the earth for a reason. I'm not saying let's just destroy everything but you guys are right humans are greedy and take more then what they need.

No not really I mean form just a scientific point of view we are here because of resources right?? Why not use them?

Uh, I don't get what you are saying. But, no. By "using" resources do you mean burning down forests, killing animals, polluting the entire earth? And what happens when we run out of resources?

Also, from a scientific view, humans are the same as any animal. There is no reason why we were put here.

No I am suggesting that there is no reason to call men evil for using resources such as cutting down trees to make a house. It is true that we use too much but every species on the earth uses resources. Are they evil?

oh and just forget about what I said about why humans are here I got it mixed up.

Humans destroy the places they live in. Also, just to add to the "evilness" of the human race, humans are the only species who kill each other.

Huh? Animals kill each other all the time.

On topic: Yes we are the most destructive species to ever set foot on this planet and Earth would have been better off without us. I think we are the most destructive because we are the most intelligent. From an atheist standpoint, natural selection made us the smartest species so technically nature fucked itself over when it created humans.

That's one of the reasons why I'm worried that computers will eventually overthrow the human species. It may seem far-fetched and unlikely now, but think about it. We keep making computers smarter and more self-sustaining, and just like humans did with nature, computers are going to eventually realize that they can conquer us. It might not happen in our generation but in the future, computers will be the dominant species on Earth. That is of course, humans don't annihilate Earth with nuclear weapons in WWIII.

But people nowadays are becoming more self-aware and conscientious of the environment around them. Slowly we are working that way which is good.
The balance is shifting to a more positive and balanced Mentality. We've just got to get some of these damn family's that have been in power and in control behind the scenes over many generations and that should have already been wiped away. They're just fucking with the thing's we try to accomplish.

+Rep bro that was an excellent point you made.

Computers overthrow the humans? That sounds a little far fetched... I think humans will wipe themselves out and only a few humans will be left... Ever read City of Ember? That book is so good! The movie sucked, don't watch the movie.

That's if they were to learn how to control their own AI giving them an personality, essentially. Something like Watson is about 100x smarter than an average human but cannot completely act out of free will, he can scan him self but that's about it.

Like the movie terminator, the AI might have a certain "goal" like protect the country. The AI, Skynet, realized that humans were the biggest threat and tried to wipe them out. That would be plausible if humans were stupid enough to give robots control over nuclear weapons. Even then, the robot might be able to hack and gain control.

Earth doesn't care what condition it's in.
The habitants on the other hand would probably be better of without the human factor as a part of the ecosystem. But to be quite frank, we do most damage onto ourselves.

Sort of like in i Robot they had to protect the human race but in order to do that they had to kill some humans.
