My thoughts
At $499 USD or still £499 in the UK the iPad is a jaw dropper. I personally think its way too overpriced for what your actually recieving in terms of the comparison between the new iPad and the iPad2. There are a few features however that I think were much needed in the latest iPad release.
For example the camera. The camera on the iPad 2 was nothing better than poor. I believe it had something like a 2MP, if that, and it didnt shoot good quality photos at all. The iPad 3 boasts a 5MP iSight Camera (who knows what iSight means) which shoots HD video aswell as crisp images. I personally dont use the camera on my iPad because, well you look like a douche when holding a massive block in the air. My phone is smaller and has a better camera on it anyway (trusty HTC).
A feature that I would understand if I were an America is the 4G technology. This technology will allow super quick internet access and is definatly the future. So why would I only understand it if I were an American? Well basically because other countrys might (most likely wont) see 4G technology for atleast another year. Britain for example will be extremely lucky to get the technology by the end of 2012. So ultimatly your paying for a feature that you wont beable to use before the next iPad is released. Its kind of like saying, here have some headphones when you dont have a music player.
The new ipad is also bigger than the old iPad. Its also heavier too, although both are only by a fraction and with the depth being slightly bigger, it should enable you to keep your grip a bit easier. There have been plenty of times where my heart has skipped a beat when ive only got hold of my iPad by my finger tips.
The bigger iPad is due to the new display. The FUGE! 2048 x 1536 pixel retina display has a higher pixel count than your average Full HD TV and has super sharp images. Nice feature? yes. Required? No. I am perfectly happy with my iPad 2 display, thank you very much.
Im just going to wrap this up here. The iPad 3 is very nice and all that but for the huge price cost and the retundant feature I cant see myself buying it.
