Is China's "one child" policy sensible?

I don't think it's fair, but it must be done.

The world is already over-populated enough, this is just slowing the inevitable of the world having no where near enough places for citizens.

I like the idea because its for their own good as well. There is nothing wrong to plan for the future and limit your children. I guess it is better than watching your children could hardly eat good and even go to school. Not only China, in other country as well with over population. On some point it will cause a problem as well to newly couple who wants to have child more than 1 and nothing wrong with if they can raise their children properly and give them a better life. But I will not agree to the idea that they will kill the girl baby because they only wanted a boy.I completely disagree with that.

I don't think the government has the right to tell a couple how many children they should have. It is one of the basic human rights of an individual and should never be controlled nor suppress. It's the couple's choice to have as many children as they want. What the government must do is to set guidelines where couples can make a choice and give all the assistance to promote responsible parenthood and then to minimized population but not to control and limit the number of children in every family. China "one Child "policy has helped them control the population and yet still problems regarding overpopulation still haunts the government plus the problem of aging population because of the diminished numbers of young population which is badly needed to keep the economy going .

Im half/half. This policy is sensible to control the population in their country because it is already overpopulated. But the downside is that it resulted to a lot of abortions or murders because they prefer a male over a female child. And that is a terrible thing to do.

It's kinda sensible because they have the largest population in the world and hoping some other countries will follow this rule.

Limiting only to 4 will do. But 1? It's kinda insane. Having a child is a blessing from the gods. So why they are limiting it to One only?
