Is the internet very addictive? Can people get addicted to the internet, websites, social media and other forums/games?

Yes they can, I see tons of my friends that can not just get off of facebook/twitter/tumblr and other social media websites at all. Me? I am addicted to being on ForumKorner, thats about it, all other websites/forums I could care less about. I think it is easy to get addicted to something that you enjoy to do, like smoking, like playing basketball, like longboarding, the internet is not much different.

Are you guys addicted to anything on the internet?
What are your thoughts on this subject?

Anything is addictive from drugs to chocolate to love, it all depends on whether the person has an addictive personality and the inability to control themselves.

I speak as a former eAddict, though I just completed my 12 steps.

@Bit marijuana is not addictive. Proven I believe, anyone can just stop smoking weed, you may say you cant, but after a week, you wont care anymore.

Anything can become addictive to anyone. I'm not necessarily addicted to the internet. But I do use it quite some time.

Physically addictive.

I have a few friends who literally only care about getting high that day.

One friend of mine is about to lose his GF and his place to stay because he blows all their money on weed, and can't pass any drug tests.

Sounds like typical addiction to me.

@Bit but if you had any motivation you could break it, marijuana is not as addictive as other things.

Sure it is.

People are addicted to eating.

People are addicted to sex, love.

Some people are addicted to getting tats and piercings.

People can become addicted to literally anything and everything.

@Evil all you are doing is spamming, not even explaining stuff to support your answer, please elaborate.

Yes the internet is addictive but it's also saying everything that you love to do daily is addictive
so it's not just the internet that is addictive

No, its not addictive. Its time consuming, yeah, but it's not going to cause a physical need for it. Smoking isn't addicting because it's fun, it causes a physical and mental need for it, due to less nicotine being produced. The other examples aren't truly addicting either. These are just things one may be extremely passionate about, such as I am about skateboarding.

Also, @bit marijuana isn't addictive either, your friend is just dumb as shit.

Physical addiction is what you're referring to.

Mental addiction is what I'm speaking of, since it wasn't specified which of these two is being spoke of, I covered both.

Honestly, you're kind of dumb as shit, he's actually a really intelligent guy, just a bit socio/psychopathic.

A day doesn't go by without me not going on the internet so I guess you could say I'm addicted. Some would argue though.

How does this concern me at all? It IS something that can be broken, your friend is making these choices based off what he feels is most important. Anyway, this is completely off topic, so I'll keep it short.

I really think I am honestly addicted to the internet. I have tons of friends and stuff and we hang out and shit but I seem like I can never get off the computer.

The second I get home I'm on ForumKorner if I'm not busy. Being addicted is a mental thing that anyone can develop
