Is the United States, even the world, the same?

Back during World War I and World War II, people were completely in love with their country, nationalism was strong. When those two wars happened, it was a total war. A total war is when the majority, if not all, of the country's citizens are helping in some way. Donating money, buying bonds, etc. When this was happening, it was truly inspiring to see the country backed up to the very end by its people.

But does that remain the same?

Would the citizens of the United States, and the rest of the world, still be this nationalistic as our previous generations? Would the majority and even all of the citizens help in the war effort?

Personally, I believe this could never happen in an age like today. Nationalism is just not as strong as it once was, there are too many diverse groups with too many diverse opinions.

At any rate, what do you think? If there was a war, would it be a total war?

No I dont think that it would be the same especially with all these fucking gays and fat asses now-a-days.

That's a little harsh. Gay people are no more or less deserving to be in the army and same with their nationalism. The reason their morale might be low is people like you who decide they're inherently bad for society and treat them poorly. As for overweight people, sure, they wouldn't be able to participate as heavily in war efforts, but they would more than likely try just as hard as the next guy or girl to help where they could.

Keep in mind some people were forced to support their country. I.E. The draft, rationing, etc.

Nationalism is fucking stupid. It shouldn't exist. "My country is better than yours because I was born in it!"
