Ok, so everyone knows this country (America) has slowly been turning into a complete oligarchic form of society, but i find it irritating to the people who are ignorant enough to wave their flags like the sheep they are while and not make what this day is supposed to be about our true freedom lets face it with the expansion of the NSA we are no longer free. That is only one of the major points i'm making i will leave you all with an article i read and i encourage all Americans to read on understanding why it is not ok and i will not be waving the flag today.

It's quite difficult to argue that we were ever "free".

I as well won't be waving the flag today, I'll be burning it. Fight for your world, not your country.

That is exactly why I only look forward to this "holiday" as an excuse to shoot off some fireworks.

I've never had a party for the fourth of july, I'd just walk around town watching people shoot fireworks.

All that the 4th of July means to me is 50% off at my favorite stores, most of which are smoke shops. Anyways, it should be mentioned that almost 99% of our country believes that we are free, when we live in a society based upon conformity, commercialism, and control. It's hard to be the one that doesn't celebrate, but at least some of us know what's going on here.

Well comparatively speaking, America is arguably less 'free' than most western European countries. You can blame the media, NSA, and religion for that. I understand that it's good to acknowledge that we were once rag tag rebels fighting for the ability to rule ourselves. I can respect that we've come a long way, but it's hard to keep loving a country who's policies I disagree with. Patriotism is blatant propaganda.

Don't be ignorant and say the 4th of July is meaningless.
Independence Day is a federal holiday in the United States of America commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, declaring independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain.
Without declaring independence we wouldn't be living as richly and freely as we are, I'm very aware of the government and its corruption but their is no reason to disrespect America's most highly regarded and respected holiday.

Calling us free is a misnomer.
