Kingdom Hearts!

I don't know about you guys but when I first got my Playstation 2 and I saw the commercial for Kingdom Hearts, I instantly had to get it, and I wasn't disappointed either. For those of you who don't know what Kingdom Hearts is, it's a mash up by Square Enix to mixing Final Fantasy characters and Disney characters to make up an entire new story with using original characters as well to come up with one of the most amazing franchises ever that has spread over a variety of systems up to this point.

Kingdom Hearts - Ps2
Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories - GBA
Kingdom Hearts RE: Chain of Memories - Ps2
Kingdom Hearts 2 - Ps2
Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days - Nintendo DS
Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep - Playstation Portable
Kingdom Hearts: Coded - Japanese Mobiles
Kingdom Hearts RE: Coded - Nintendo DS
Kingdom Hearts 3D - Not yet released but will be for the Nintendo 3DS.

The story in short revolves around the young hero Sora, who is chosen by the weapon of the game the Keyblade, and he wishes to see the outside worlds, him living on an island. The worlds revolve around Light and Darkness, where you fight creatures known as the Heartless and later in the second game, the Nobodies, and playing Birth by Sleep (A prequal that takes place ten years prior to the first game) you fight creatures known as the Unversed. Although this description doesn't have much detail, I would encourage you to watch some videos and read about the entire story! For those of you who know Kingdom Hearts, discuss the aspects, positives and negatives, of the story, gameplay, monsters, anything! For those of you who do not know Kingdom Hearts, maybe this will help you dust off the good ol' Ps2 and play it again!

Discuss!

I haven't played any of the newer ones with Ventus and the other guys...
I've played Kingdom Hearts 1, 2, and Chain of Memories though.

It's a really great series.

P.S. - Me and my brother used to always yell, "Lead me into everlasting darkness," when we would get into a fight.
Kind of lame, but it was funny when we were younger.

Nah, don't play it. Sucks.

D'aw, did you give it a chance?

I don't blame you, whenever I had a toy sword I always liked yelling thunder and pretending like I was using the magic! It's scary how fast time flies, and I'm only 17. If you enjoyed 1, CoM, and 2, you'll definitely enjoy Birth by Sleep!

I'm 17 as well.
I know the story line, because I played a few fan games, but I can't get myself to betray the feelings I had for the old ones. =/

Is it really worth the play? or will it make me hate the new direction?

I don't think I understand what you mean by "new direction"
because it's not really adding something different to the story line, it's filling in what's been missing.
For example how Riku and Sora both received the power to wield the Keyblade, as did Kairi (If you remember in KHII she had a Keyblade in "The World That Never Was")
It's definitely worth the play, at least in my opinion.
I've been meaning to get Swap Magic for my Ps2 in order to play the Final Mix versions of KH1 and KHII.

Sora with Keyblade fights Heartless to save Kairi in first game, in second game he fights Heartless and Nobodies to defeat Xemnas of Organization XIII to prevent Kingdom Hearts from being opened again, and to also find a way home with Riku.

That sums up the short story of it all.
