You don't actually exist, it's all a simulation.


Simulated reality is the skeptical hypothesis that reality could be simulated—perhaps by computer simulation—to a degree indistinguishable from "true" reality. It could contain conscious minds which may or may not be fully aware that they are living inside a simulation.
This is quite different from the current, technologically achievable concept of virtual reality. Virtual reality is easily distinguished from the experience of actuality; participants are never in doubt about the nature of what they experience. Simulated reality, by contrast, would be hard or impossible to separate from "true" reality.
There has been much debate over this topic, ranging from philosophical discourse to practical applications in computing.

If it is nearly indistinguishable, how did the idea come about in the first place? Who/what would be running the simulation? Who/what would have that kind of technology?How could they emulate such an advanced process worldwide consistently? Would this process ever stop? Can it be turned on/off?

I read your post quickly so excuse me if I misunderstood something. I don't really expect you to be able to answer all/any of my questions. Just seems like a few very important details are missing from this theory, so idk where someone could connect the dots and end up with this in the first place. Skeptical is an understatement but I am always open to being educated.

Of course there's a possibility, but I would imagine a almost infinitely small percentage of chance. I just find this theory too bizarre to be true.

Nothing can be ruled out simply because one thinks it to be too "bizarre" or "farfetched." Had man clung to that belief we would still be living in caves.

I never ruled it out though. I stated that I believed this theory is bizarre and that there was a miniscule possibility of it being true. There is a possibility, I just think we should be focusing on theories that seem more realistic.
