LinkedIn has completely overhauled its iPhone and Android apps with a new emphasis on speed, simplicity and Groups.
The new apps look less like a clone of the Facebook app. LinkedIn has also unveiled an HTML 5-enabled mobile website for touch devices.
Instead of focusing on eight or nine different core functions, the new LinkedIn apps have four key areas: Updates, Inbox, You and Groups. The Updates feature lets you view a newsfeed of activity from your network. It also lets you check out news from LinkedIn Today, the company’s aggregated news portal. Inbox contains all of your messages and LinkedIn requests. The You section lets you access and update your profile, view your connections and share updates to your network.
The final section, Groups, is new to LinkedIn’s mobile apps. The company says access to Groups was the most-requested feature. The apps now contain access to groups, allow you to browse discussions and post discussions on different groups.
LinkedIn’s new mobile apps also focus on speed. The company says that its mobile apps are up to 10 times faster. This should make searching for content or checking out your friends’ updates less painful.
Check out some screenshots of the revamped apps, and let us know what you think of the redesign in the comments below.
