Alienware is horrible and overpriced crap.

You might want to look into building. I wouldn't get a laptop, laptops are not meant for high end gaming.

Alienware is a great place to get PC's if you don't care about throwing away your money. Everything there is about 40% overpriced or more. It can get pretty bad.

If you want a good pc (one that wont go bad) make a custom PC. May I recommend:

small recommendations (not everything)

CPU: Intel Core i5 2500k
Graphics Card: ATI Radeon HD 6950
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-P67X-UD3-B3
RAM: Corsair XMS3 memory, 4x4 GB
Harddisk: 2x Seagate Barracuda 7200

16GB are you high? He probably won't even utilize 4GB RAM. Segate hard drive are crappy hard drive that's got a high failure rate.

Lul, Alienware or Dell use's cheapest parts. I rather get my dick removed than buy that crap.

Friend uses seagate (i dont, because I am not upgrading my shitty pc till around december, during my birthday so i can get it as a 'graduation present' from my dad (dont have to pay jack!)) and I've never seen him have a problem with it. If it ever does, RAM isn't that expensive nowadays anyways.

Also, it was just a example. 4x4 is great, but sometimes an overkill if your not planning to run things on high with other good hardware.

Changed your HDD to Caviar black or Samsung spinpoint F3. For power supply, I would go for a reputable brand like Antec,Corsair or Seasonic. 600w-700w should do fine
