I would like to see this feature added, so if you open this http://puu.sh/cAXtu/0e4fa6215c.png then you can just click mark as read. Because even if you manually go to your alert you get then it still shows as unread.

Personally, I think this feature is kind of unneeded. Just an opinion though.

If you aren't going to check your alerts, you might as well delete them.

I'm not sure what you are even suggesting . Alerts go away when you click them. It's that easy.

Just click the alert and they go away, simple.
