The Member Statistics module displays that, as well as other interesting and useful info about the users who have signed up on your website. It displays total registered users, numbers of guests and members online, the newest member, and numbers of new users today, this week and this month.
Since this is a module you can just display it for admin users, but it's also a great way to show off how many users are on your website and how fast your site is growing.
