The Microsoft’s Points system, used for Xbox Live Marketplace and other Microsoft marketplaces, is set to be abolished by the end of the year, according to a Inside Mobile Apps report. The site reckons that local, real-world currency will replace points. Microsoft only uses real-life money for when games are bought from Games on Demand, although the option is available to also buy them with Microsoft Points. Microsoft Points has been around the release of Xbox 360 in 2005, and has also been around for other storefronts including Zune Marketplace, Games for Windows Live and Windows Phone 7

Wow that is sooooo gay I'm going to rage if that happends I hate how everything is just for the money
 
It's pretty so they can pull a PSN and Tax all the Add-ons, etc like PS3 does.
 
This has to be fake. It's so much easier for people to buy MSP from a shop than use a credit card or paypal. People also will not be willing to use credit cards as lots of people are nervous about using them on the internet. Overall this would would be a huge loss for MS as they will be loosing sales. And we know how much they love making money the tight bastards! :p

So this has to be fake!

I agree it is easier for some people to go to the store and buy MSP but that doesn't mean people will stop buying MSP in general. Either way, people will buy MSP and Microsoft will make money.
 
I have read up on this on TTG and I would honestly hate if this were to happen.
 
If it's not broke... Don't fix it. I say we stick with MS points. They work fine. I'd rather not use my Credit Card.

I agree 100%. Microsoft doesn't agree though :/
 
Rumour will stay a rumour until MS put out a statement.
 
I doubt they'll do it during the age of the 360, however the Next Gen Console... I can see them being implemented. Only time will tell... or wont tell?
