20-59: Mine iron. Iron is a fast way to gain experience. With a rune pick and a high mining level, you do not even have to touch the rock to get the ore. That amazing speed allows you to mine iron very quickly and efficiently. This is very good for leveling.

Many people start dropping iron ores or giving it away, though they are a 100 each. This is because they don’t want to have to go to the bank to drop off the iron. After you get 400 iron, it is good to just drop your iron, if you are just in it for the experience. If not, by all means, keep the iron and sell it for a good profit. The 400 should be enough to cover all your pickaxe expenses.
60-99: A: Mine coal. You are able to mine coal at 30, but you mine is so slowly at the point that it isn’t worth giving up mining your iron. You can keep mining coal until 99 from this point.
Areas to mine: Chasm mine, Dwarven mine, Edgeville mine, Mining Guild, West Lumbridge swamp mine, Crandor, Hero’s Guild, Barbarian village, Grand Tree, Coal Trucks, and East Adroudge
60-99: B: Mine iron. If you are able to get runners, I would suggest mining iron. Just give them free iron or iron at an extremely low cost. They run to the bank, take your iron, and run back. They keep the iron, but it is much faster than dropping your iron one by one. If you can optimize your speed, in this way, it is great. Go to a highly populated world and control all the iron in the area. The new players trying to mine iron may get upset because they can’t make money, but if you give them the opportunity to get free iron, they will jump at it.
NOTE: At 85, you have the ability to mine rune. You can go ahead and mine rune, if you are here to get money. If you want to get deeper into mining, continue leveling because rune is a terrible way to level because of all the competition.
NOTE: Mine in areas with a lot of ore and in a high world, if you have a high mining compared to the ore you are mining. If you have 70 mining with a rune pick and are mining iron, go to the highest populated world and dominate. This is because ores spawn much faster in higher populated worlds.
