Ministry - Helping others

So today I went to church with my family and basically we are expanding our church family and community.

I have been working in ministry sense I was 13, so two years, I run lights and what not and help with the message.

Now today we learned that as a ministry we have to help others out, no matter what, in greek ministry means to serve others and to serve our lord God almighy.

Now you may be thinking, how can I help/serve others. Serving others is quite easy, you ask them what needs to be done. You do things that are quite helpful towards other people.

Simple things such as holding the doors open for other people, giving a few dollars to people who need it, little things.

The thing I am asking, do you serve?
Do you find it hard to Serve?
Do you believe that you were born to work for Gods ministry?

Yea i do agree with helping others, i feel like everyone does it but may not think they do like holding doors i feel like is just a common thing that people do. or picking something up that they dropped or at least telling them because who wants to be the person to not say something. maybe not doing something extraordinary like building a boat for them but yea helping people will always raise your spirits and everyone should do it

I dont serve anyone. I help, I aid, I contribute. And I dont need a religion or any organized affiliation to teach me or tell me how to do that. I do it out of free will. You do it out of fear of where you will go if you dont "serve."

I always try to help people. Every year, I go down to Mississippi to participate in Habitat for Humanity. I build a house, or part of one, for a different family every year. However, it doesn't take the idea of a god for me to do this. I do this because it is my goal to leave the world better than I found it.

The fact that people only do good when religion is involved sickens me. They only serve because they think it will get them into heaven, or it will make them look good in the eyes of their god. This is doing good, but not for the right reasons.

@LEader I do not do it just because of my religion, I just stated that my religion teaches it. I try and help anyone in need.

I'm just pointing out one of the bad parts of religious service, rather than genuine service. It may be different for you, but for most, it's similar to what I described.
