Mobile Suggestions

[Color]

I've noticed a few things that would be nice in the mobile theme.

1. Could posts be resized to fit in the normal area, rather than being expanded and have to scroll? It makes it quite a bit harder to navigate and just looks ugly.

2. Have images resized to fit, goes along with the first. It makes it really hard to navigate with a thread design, as well as looking very ugly.

3. Add username colors to posts.

4. Maybe an open/close for member stats on the home page.

5. Ability to zoom in/out. Edit: Can on android, but not iOS.

6. Change new posts page to display author and section, rather than the last poster. Would clean it up a bit and make browsing easier whole reducing the cluttered feel.

I'll update this thread as I notice things. These first 2 in particular would be extremely appreciated.

1. You are probably zoomed in on your device. On everything I have tested the theme with there has not been any kind of issue such as this.

2. On the MyBBGoMobile theme images would be smaller, so for example, thread designs would have to be zoomed in to read. It looked much cleaner this way, since you didn't have to scroll all over to get past it.

3. They do on profiles, online list, etc., but on the header of posts all usernames are white.

Agreed. I think Johnny said he was working on it. It works sometimes I you do it through the Edit Options on the UCP. Even that doesn't work all the time for me though.

1. In height or width (if in width words should wrap and break into new line) ?
2. Few adjustments have been made regarding images in posts (on mobile theme), it will resize lower than your screen resolution (still needs some tests).
3. I have included plain usernames (no styling) on mobile theme since thead bg color isn't plain (for example white or dark) and there could be a potential problem to see particular username.
6. Prostats plugin is hardcoded (no template files for every area that you see) and it's limited to css edits only. I can remove top posters, most reps and new members columns and maybe [with big M] hide some parts from new posts area with css.

As for that theme switching "bug":

As for switching from light -> dark mobile theme the problem is limitation of Gomobile plugin - it's adding a cookie called "gomobile" with value "force". Now it's not a problem to destroy a cookie if it's added via javascript but since this cookie is added via PHP every function (in jquery) to destroy or even change the cookie value isn't working (the function is written correct and even if conditions (if the cookie value is that do that) are working but changing cookie value isn't doing anything).

To sumarize: Gomobile plugin is limited to 1 theme only (atm it's FK mobile light theme). If you are on mobile theme and trying to switch on dark theme you won't get anything. If you switch on desktop theme (and before that you have selected FK mobile dark) you will still end up with theme that you selected while on FK mobile theme.

If you want FK mobile dark switch to desktop version and from UserCP -> Options select FK mobile dark.

Update regarding theme switching (on tablets, smartphones...) - once you are switched to FK mobile theme (light) scroll to bottom and click on "Theme options" button and after the theme menu is opened click on

"Clear current theme selection"

and wait for a few seconds (a function needs to be executed in order to clear gomobile cookies) and you will get

Cleared. Please select one of following themes as default:

and then select FK mobile dark, light or MyBB gm as your default theme.

The only downside is that (if you are logged in) selecting a particular theme will set it as default and it will show if you are browsing from your desktop PC (or laptop, under the condition that you are logged in). To fix this i'll add more theme links under "theme options" and just select your desktop theme when you are browsing via desktop browser.

As for Prostats (on index page) newest members and top reps are removed. Newest post table is now showing thread name - new post date- latest poster.
