Money (Theory)

Someone posted this on "highdeas.com" and I found it interesting.

"I have a feeling that in our lifetime tangible currency will vanish. Think about it, how many places accept debit or credit cards now? You can even buy a soda from a vending machine with a credit card now-a-days. Every other week I get paid with direct deposit, one day my bank posts a balance in my account and the next, it magically increases without me ever putting physical money into it. My boss's account drops in value and mine goes up, yet money never actually traded hands, just an electronic number changed.

Why is it like this? Unfortunately I think it is all a government conspiracy theory. When you give someone paper money, the government can't see it...it is almost like the transaction never happened unless someone reports it for tax reasons. If there was no more paper money and all transactions happened electronically, big brother can see where every dollar is going, what it was used for, and then tax it so they can make more money. Maybe I am being paranoid but I think something shady is going on at such a slow rate of implementation that not many people have questioned it yet."

My thoughts :

Feasible. Electronic currency may not have even originated under manipulative intentions. This could just be a side effect. With all of the other known cases and examples of the "government" intruding unlawfully, I would not be surprised if this were just another uncovered piece of the puzzle, holding truth, but not proof.

The government conspiracy thing is stupid. There are many ways of having electronic funds be untraceable or close to being untraceable. Paper money is becoming less common over time as there is an increased chance of being robbed if you're carrying a few thousand in cash to buy something than if you're carrying a debit card with a pin lock on it. Organising a safe way to do a billion dollar deal with paper money? Forget about it. There are alternative reasons why paper money is going out of style than a government conspiracy to get one over tax evaders, and you need to consider those reasons.

I could definitely see this happening. If the major banks stopped accepting cash and just accepted electronic transactions and withdrawals physical money would definitely see a decline in popularity. Despite taking a big hit in users, the banks would at least be able to record everything that happens, as well as the government.

I havent just jumped on bored with this theory, Im just acknowledging that its very possible. It may not be the primary reason for the electronic transformation, but it could be a convenient perk stemming from the idea.

I have considered other reasons and believe there are multiple.

The government doesn't fucking care about tracking people via credit card via "electronic revolution". Electronics are too unreliable to be the United States only source of currency. There will always be a physical form of currency. All your arguments against that can easily be counterargued. Impossible. If banks become bankrupt? Ouch.
