My Feedback: Upgrade Sytem

Before continuing, I would like to state that this is a feedback thread. I, along with every other registered user should have the right to post feedback, positive or negative, without seeking punishment as long as the feedback is given appropriately and professionally. We should also be able to do so without being prompt with hostility and negative thoughts for our justified opinions.

I can almost guarantee there will not be a single person that reads this thread entirely, but if you at least make it to the half way mark, good for you. Get yourself a cookie and glass of milk.

We have far too many upgrades.
Three upgrades is more than plenty. Once four or five begin to be implemented it slowly starts to defeat the entire purpose of the previous three. There are not near enough benefits worth paying for to have 4-5 upgrades. I am not going to bother focusing too much on this topic because many will most likely disagree.

Upgrades are overpriced for what you get.
You pay $18.00 for Onyx. You get an outdated userbar, username style, and award.
You pay $20.00 for Power. You get another outdated userbar, username style, and award.
You pay $25.00 for Power+ with an additional $10.00 fee for the Donator award. Once again, you receive an outdated userbar, username style, and award.

That is an outrageous price total of $73.00 and you still have advertisements. Thank goodness for AdBlock.

All Power+ users paid $73.00 or traded the equivalent for the following abilities:
Private message space 7,200 > 5,000 > 2,500
Change own username
Edit own usertitle
Rate threads
Edit own posts
Open/Close threads
Undo votes in poll
Attatchment system
Reputation system ±15 > ±10 > ±5
Access to "private" forums and subforums
Access to Forum Korner's Marketplace
Access to custom theme settings

Why would anyone pay $73.00 for those very few "benefits?"

Prices should be more closely related to:
Onyx: $15.00
Power: $15.00
Power+: $20.00
Total: $50.00

Donating is a choice at full disclosure of the user choosing to donate. The 'Donator' award should not be required to upgrade to Power+.

The 'Supporter' upgrade is flawed.
I do not believe it is very righteous to consider one particular upgrade group "supporters." If you have upgraded your account—Onyx, Power, Power+—then you are qualified as a supporter in my eyes.

My idea of a supporter is one who chooses to support the forum without receiving any benefits in return, therefore, supporting the forum indefinitely to see it improve. Perhaps I am the only person that thinks so. Check this out. All upgraded users— Onyx, Power, and Power+—are supporters. If you paid for, or otherwise traded items of monetary value for your upgrade, or even if another user was friendly enough to gift you the upgrade, you are a supporter. In regards to your support, you are given a userbar, custom username effect, and an array of perks that you may utilize throughout the forum. If you are a true supporter, you should expect nothing in return. You are supporting Forum Korner and its expansion in its entirety. From my full understanding, Supporter was never intended on being a full-blown usergroup, however, it quickly transitioned into one.

Same goes for 'Investors'.
Investing. . .is just that. . .it is investing. Investing is the act expending money with the expectation of achieving a profit or material result by putting it into financial schemes, shares, or property, or by using it to develop a commercial venture. Why would I spend $200.00 to be considered an 'Investor' if I cannot turn a profit? That is after all, the sole purpose of investing. The usergroup should be renamed if that is the case. Earning 15 Koins every month is not profiting if the coins are freshly rendered. That is just putting Koins in a deficit.

Has Power+ been forgotten about?
When Power+ was first implemented years ago, we were promised more perks on a regular basis. I cannot recall the last time a new Power+ perk was implemented and not removed.

If you wanted to purchase every single upgrade permanently, you would spend $523.00. Now, you sit there and tell me that it is worth it. I am not a nitpicky asshole that is trying to get more and more benefits, I just want equality and fairness for what we pay to support the forum.

I agree with it all but feel as though feedback isn't implemented much, may just be the case that the team is busy I guess.
Hope to see these changes considered.

I read it all @Jason ;)

To be able to upgrade to Power+ you need to buy the Master donator award for $40 plus the $25 for Power+ I thought

Just regular Power you need to buy the $10 donator award too

I read this whole thread, and there is not one damn thing that I can't agree with.

In addition to the other issues with Power+, it's the fact the just about anyone can get the upgrade if they have the cash. It should be exclusive to those who have worked their way through the rank and have met a high standard set of requirements.

I agree with everything you said. I don't like that you have to purchase the "donator" award to be able to proceed to the next upgrade.

Thanks to everyone that has read this thread. Choose to leave your own feedback, or backup mine. I would love to read any in all responses that are in agreement or disagreement. I have plenty more to say and I may edit this thread in the near future.

I agree. I personally will not ban anybody posting constructive criticism on a topic that I feel warrants discussion.

Outside of the pricing changes - that's entirely up to Philly's discretion - what possible additions to the existing upgrade levels would you like to see? What specific perks do you think would be good to apply to each individual upgrade level?

Also, yes, I read the entire thread.

Alright @jason , I'd like my cookie and a glass of milk now. Thanks.

In all seriousness, I 100% agree but I wouldn't be surprised if this thread got deleted and you got some sort of repercussion.

It wouldn't be the first time. I am nearly a four year member; I am not afraid of being banned for leaving genuine feedback. At least I know the ban would be undeserving.

@Raptor: For starters, a junk feature would be excellent. It would allow us to freely junk posts and save the forum team the hassle. It could even be limited, perhaps 1-2 threads a day. Secondly, a new userbar would be nice. The ability to revoke given reputation is just a given. Maybe the ability to view given reputations. Hell, it would be nice if the Bans page was brought back, though bans are visible on profiles. A forum team list like before. Mostly perks we previously had that have been removed overtime with the addition of new, custom perks.

As you said, the prices are of course at Philly's discretion. However, I was wondering Raptor, could you possibly have the UBs updated? Not only would this bring a little spicy life to the site, I think it'll simply attract others to earn their upgrade as well (if that can also be implemented: earning upgrades through strict requirements).

Fair enough. I'm not particularly sure why junking went away. I'll speak to Philly about the userbars. Revoking given reps seems pointless to me since if worst comes to worst you can either modify it to a neutral or PM me and I'll remove it on your behalf, but that's neither here nor there. Ability to view given reputations is something I'll also keep in mind. As for the bans page, apparently that has a security vuln and we're waiting on a fix prior to re-enabling it. The forum team list is outdated, and I've already discussed that with Philly. Is there anything else you'd like to see?

Everything in that area is Philly's jurisdiction but I'm more than happy to raise this issues and discuss them on your behalf.

I can't speak for Philly's ideals on the matter, however I will not junk this thread. I may junk off-topic replies, but this is useful feedback. If anybody has any further feedback (even feedback for/against moderators or myself), feel free to post it publicly if you feel it's constructive, or PM it to me.

I will not ban you for this and I wouldn't think such a ban would be warranted. Unless you decide to suddenly be rude or aggressive in your criticism, I see this as useful feedback and a request for change.

More Power+ features since the ones we have aren't worth it, getting a new .gif userbar.

Also when I first joined Power+ were the respected members but now if you have the money you can buy it and before Philly had to approve you.

I'm all for new features if they're easy to implement, it's the actual features themselves that I'm not sure of.

A new user bar should be easy as it doesn't require too much knowledge to implement compared to a security feature or such.
