my laptop doesn't charge

My charger that came with the computer will keep it on but it won't charge. When i plug it in it says that it isn't the right charger but its the one it came with. I don't know if its the battery or the charger. I can't do warranty because it expired like 100 days ago. What should I do?

Did you buy the computer from an official vendor or someone authorized to sell it? Contact them and even if it's not on the warranty that is something that they will replace or should replace for you.

If it is official then it would probably be an issue with your battery that might need replacing.

I bought it from Best Buy. Do I have a warranty with them as well as Dell?

I would first contact Best Buy and let them know about the situation. Then I would contact Dell. I don't know how you didn't solve this within the 100 days. Did it recently start having issues?

If this was something that was delayed then I don't think its an issue of the device being fake. I don't think they will help you at this point. Here is what I want you to do. Take the battery out of your computer but keep the charger in and try to start the computer up and navigate for a bit. Once you give me that answer I can be more of a help.

I think it's an issue of the battery not the charger.

O.K. I have done this and it is running fine. The battery symbol is saying no battery detected but everything is running fine.

My two cents is that it is your computers battery pack that is having issues. You need to get a replacement for that. If it was the charger having issues you wouldn't have been able to start it up.

You have a dell inspiron, don't you? This happened to mine. It's not a problem with the charger or battery, it's a problem with the port you plug the charger into on the computer.

Buying a new battery won't fix it and neither will buying a new cord.

I just trashed the computer because it was old anyway, but you HAVE to send it in.

Ya i guess. I found the battery I need on Dells website and its 136 bucks. Thats like 1/7th the price of the computer might as well just buy a new computer maybe.

Refer to my post above yours. Buying a new battery won't fix it.

Is it an older model? Mine was kind of old when it happened.

The laptop just stopped working and I didn't want to send it in so I said screw it.

It may be that I just don't see why the port was suddenly have an issue. Get it checked out before you order something.

Yours is a little bit newer, but they only fixed the problem in the really new ones.

This happens on my labtop, it's an acer aspire. What I do is power it off, take out the battery for 30 seconds, put it back on then turn it on and it'll charge to 100% then stop working again.

Give Optics advice and try and let me know if that happens to you. It would be extremely unprofessional for them to sell a computer with such known issues.

They do it. Just google his issue and thousands of results come up. I don't know why they are even allowed to sell them when they know there is a problem like this.
