I'm not the biggest computer guy so I'd like some help off you guys.
Since I got back from Europe and my computer was sitting there doing nothing for 3 months, it got really dusty, so every now and then it will blue screen which usually works after I open it up and clean it.

But today it keeps repeatable happening so I think I need to upgrade.

Should I replace every single part?
Will I be able to keep my hard drive?

& How much could I get a decent set up for, but keep in mind I don't game on PC or do much else so I don't need an awesome powerful computer.

Take it apart and give everything a really good clean. Pay attention to where everything goes though, as you'll probably forget if you take everything out at once.

If it still keeps blue screening, when?

You could get a decent set up for what you want for i'd say around $450, give or take a little.

I'm just gonna replace everything except my hard drive, I realised it's about 5 years old so I'm due for a new one.

If you're gonna do that I'd buy a new hard drive as well. Use that as your main HD and keep your old one as extra space.
Would only set you back around $60.

You can get a rather decent setup for $400-$800, depending on how good you want your pc to be.

If you want a very good computer that will last you for ages, $800 will probably be the most you'd put into it tbh
$400-$500 would get you a nice running computer, minimal lag and can probably run you everything that you'd want. Gaming would be set to medium (maybe high) graphics ($800 pc would get you everything HD no sweat, and more)

*this all depends on whether you buy a pre-built computer or custom build your own

Or you can save $200 and buy a shitty computer that doesn't blue screen xD Whatever floats your boat.

If I were you, before dedicating anything, i'd try taking the time and re-cleaning the entire computer. Buy a few cans of compressed air and see if it works. If not, buy (or see if you know anybody that has a spare) another HD, or get a nice external for storage and back up all the files that you may want saved (pictures, game saves, information etc, anything that can't just be redownloaded from the internet) and reformat your computer. See if that does anything for you. Better to start from scratch than to wastefully spend $400 for a PC you may not need.

Take off any unnecessary components and start it up, it could be a component that's broke.
If you can remember the error code, post it.

Thanks for your input all of yous.
I bought a new one today and spent $350.

I thought about fully cleaning it but I am due for a new computer as it has been 5-6 years

It will easily run anything that I need, (Video editing, music production)
I don't game at all on my PC so I don';t need it for that.

My hard drive now is 500gb and that is more than enough for me, I only use about 200gb of it tbh.

Cool, glad to hear you got your setup back up and running (new pc I mean xD)

I myself am running with a 1TB... got about 600GB of it in use. Got a lot of steam games installed on here. (though frankly i dont play them so i could uninstall them for like a free 300gb in space. I will do that if i actually ever need the space)
