Netflix Price Hike Takes Effect Today

The days of Netflix‘s $9.99 per month combined streaming and DVD plan have come to an end. Starting Thursday, the price of the same service will jump to $15.98 per month.
Netflix announced in July that it would be separating its streaming and DVD rental services. Customers will now pay $7.99 per month to rent one DVD at a time by mail or pay the same price to stream movies online. Customers who want both services must now pay both fees.
While the changes applied to new customers immediately, the new plans didn’t affect existing customers until Sept. 1.
If you’re on a combined plan and want to avoid a fee increase, you’ll need to change to a streaming-only plan or a DVD-only plan before your next bill. For many customers, that means today. Those who are billed later in the month still have some wiggle room.
You can find your next billing date by clicking “Your Account & Help” on the top-right corner of your Netflix profile.
Will you be switching your plan or leaving Netflix for another service? Let us know in the comments.
