New Investor Features

Really want to add to the prestige of this group by adding tons of custom features, but I need some ideas. Between LMCampbell and myself I'm pretty sure we can add most of them. I'm thinking of adding the "given rep" option for Investors, and the usual allowing them to see warnings etc but I want some nice ideas.

Please post some decent ideas. I'll be adding a Genius award soon, so all the suggestions/ideas you come up in this section can contribute to getting that award.

I like the idea of being able to see the "Given" rep, im so used to it on HF that I forget I cant do it here, lol.

I'd like to bring up my idea of Investor emails as well. There was a lot of positive feedback about it when I mentioned it. Has this been acted on, or potentially still in the pipeline?

Self Close isn't working yet for some reason. Self Junk is something we will add as well. Need those images though first.

@Bree: I'm still finding out why the @marketforums.org emails aren't working, it's something I haven't had time really to look into. Once we move onto the new VPS I'll work with Spaz (weirdly good with email stuff) and fix it. It's something that will definitely get added though, I've wanted it for a while. It's a great way to advertise the site.

Ahh yeah, I remember you saying now actually.

Perhaps some sort of minor points increase per action?

For example, instead of 10 per post, it could be 12/13. Its not so much of an increase to cause "imbalance", whilst still giving Investors that little extra.

VIP Marketplace where only Investor's can post threads, Investor section for VIP, Possible site sponsorships for investor-ran businesses (that prove themselves to be legitimate and worth while) <- Sponsorship in name, not in money.

These are good. But please push the prices back up to normal. We are now getting Investors with 3-10 posts and aren't HQ. Please look into that.

You have 100 posts, how are you much better? Not disagreeing with you however as that is something I would like to see changed.

I think we need to make it so just anyone can't buy investor.
Perhaps having to get accepted into the group. Also, maybe have them be the first to know about bigger site news. i.e. bans, promotions, demotions. etc.
Also, I like the self close / self junk.

Rep Given and Negrepped should be added. You should only be allowed to give Investor if you are accepted. Make it something like HF

This isn't HF, while the exclusiveness of the group is preferred, people need to stop comparing everything to HF.

Just saying in general. Do something to restrict. When I joined there were only 3 now they are 8. 45% have less than 30 posts.

I agree with you 100%
While I think that the donating is great, I think that the group members should have at least a profile / post / thread review before being accepted. This doesn't mean that the person can't still donate.
Mordalum.. You can always go for the Diamond award and it will show your legit..
Maybe we should make a diamond / honored rank for those people that achieve it. :wink:

I agree completely with you in that, I feel a bit underhanded considering the number of new members who just jump straight to Investor. While HF is a good comparison I don't believe that their business model is something that this forums should follow. You can get into the formerly elitist vip group with trash values and 30 bucks. I'd appreciate if our administration used a slightest bit of criticism when accepting possible investors.

Why do I get the feeling that you are just saying that because YOU have the diamond rank? A rank that would cost 100+ dollars to join would be completely useless at the moment, as very few members have that amount to just throw away. I doubt that they could provide enough benefits at this stage for it to be an acceptable loss. It's not just about the rankings and the money, I'd like to believe it is more about the users that are trying to join them.

I've already said we now only accept Investors if they meet our requirements (which don't get given out). If they don't meet the requirements but have done something to me off-site that I like or respect (basically, if I trust them and know them) then they'll also get accepted. This week is the only week anyone can join Investors, as we're striving towards a new VPS and we're trying to raise as much funds as we possibly can t cover our backs, and continue improving the site.
