I'm still on the fence about this because I don't know much about the commitment but I am leaning towards following through with this. I'm talking about purity rings, they are a symbol of ones commitment to a chastful life with God. I'm not big on religion but I feel that this is something that makes a lot of sense. During these dark years I feel like committing to God with something as serious as this is good and will serve some time for reflection. I'll begin doing some research on the hundemental guidelines for this commitment but the main idea it features is no sex until marriage. Masturbation is also no allowed so it'll look like I'll have to put away my 5TB collection oh pornographic materiel. When I told me friend about this she brought up a brilliant point that I overlooked, this is sexy - girls are attracted to guys who commit to such an ordeal. Obviously I don't have girl issues and am not doing this just for that factor it's just one benefit I will get with this commitment. I'm also sure that you're supposed to wear this/commit to it up until you get married, after that intercourse is allowed. I'm still not sure for how long I'll commit to it, it might be anything from a few years to fifteen years. What are your thoughts on purity rings?

Religion were orignally formed as a mean of controlling the public. I suggest you become an agnostic atheist like myself. We need no purity rings <3

That's a very condescending and rude thing to say.
Be open and aware of all religions and practices. Why should you condemn someone else for simply being different? Seems like an uneducated, rude thing to do.

I think a purity ring is a nice idea.
Everyone looks down upon it, but our world is so brainwashed into believing sex is everything. Don't get me wrong, I love it.

Rude thing to say?. If you educate yourself in history you would very early realise that Religion was most likely a minor practice exploited and abused by few to control a larger part of the population. Religion has always been used to manipulate a larger group of people, just look at the Islam radikals, Christians Crusades etc.

Religion is indeed a belief, but the way it originated and the way it has been used has been against it's intention.

As for the purity ring I see no reason as to not obtain it. Many people be it believers or non believers does share the same ideals as the purity ring is trying to emphasize.

@Phreak some might look down upon it but many actually respect it, and like OP says, girls find it hot because a guy is commited to something that controls him. These days all the guys are wanting to fuck anything that moves, but if I stand out with an opposing idealogy then it will either harm my image , to some people, but others will totally respect the idea.

@Fate The reason why I think I need a 'physical' symbol such as a purity ring is to remind myself of my movement. Usually I'm the type of guy who half way through a commitment cheats due to lust, I feel that this symbol will keep reminding me of what I'm commited to.

Yeah, but it's not kind to impose your ideals or beliefs on others. Saying one way of believing is better or "more right" than others is condescending and rude.
You should accept everyone for who they are. Just because "science" can have more factual knowledges to back up the reason why religion is a "hoax" doesn't mean it's correct. I walk by faith and not by sight and that makes me more of a man than most.

I believe it is a respectable moral stand that some choose to take. I myself cannot commit to such an act as I have already been exposed to it and I don't believe it would benefit me to restrict myself and my significant other from engaging in such activities.
