Noob Question: How do I make a template BLANK?

Okay, so I am thinking about creating a group on this forum, and I have a template and everything prepared. The only problem is the template I am using is not blank. The Photo Editing/Graphic software I am using is PhotoShop CS5, I would be eternally grateful, if someone could tell me how to take the image, and text off the template, thus enabling me to create my own user group using said template. Thanks in advance.

Do you mean the backround is black or the template colour is black?

That right there. See your userbar? I am wondering how I can make the one I am trying to make that already has text and an icon on it BLANK, thus enabling me to add my own detail.

You need to use the rounded rectangle tool and make the border and then use the gradient button on a new layer above the rounded rectangle tool, then create clipping mask and boom, you have your template. If you need anymore help through TV/Teamviewer then PM me.
