OH MY GOD MY BATTERY IS GONNA EXPLODE

1. My Computer overheats like hell (if I run something like Crysis 2 for a long time)

2. My battery doesn't work because of Windows 7. (see http://www.windows7news.com/2010/01/31/battery-life-problems-on-laptops-with-windows-7/ )

3. IT WEIGHS 7KG I'M SERIOUS

Could anybody help me with the second solution? I have to keep my laptop on the table as well because of overheating, it kinda hurts my legs because of the excess heat.

The solution to the first one, I don't need that much, but it would be helpful.

I've bought this laptop 4 years ago from Best Buy, Bloomington, Indiana, USA. (I believe it was in April 2007.)

This mainly happened to the users who upgraded their laptops from XP or Vista to 7

Specifications:

Dell Studio 1737 Laptop

17-inch screen
320GB Hard Drive
4GB RAM
Intel Core 2 Duo T6400 Processor
Weight: 7KG -____-

On the laptop it says 9-cell battery, if that's helpful.

There's probably more but meh, I cbf.

Batteries decay... After 4 years if they are mostly pluged into power the battery losses a small amount of power it can keep each year. I've had a laptop whos battery started off as 2hrs after 4 years its only like 25 mins I don't think theres another fix other then buy a new battery :S I might be wrong, but its what I'd reckon... Dell doesn't make good batteries....

No, that isn't the problem, the problem is that it doesn't last long.. I had a laptop that was like 10 years old and it worked on battery for 2 hours (it was running windows 98 lol)

I think that your computer is just getting old.

Check your fan settings, also.

Running games need an active fan. The fan may also be clogged. Try using one of the compressed air cans for computers and cleaning it.

He's right. I would take the back cover off, and blow all that dust out. There is some in there for sure. But that might not be the issue. Some computers do get hot. My Girlfriends HP blazes, no dust and fan works fine. So it might just be the computer.

Mine is on balanced, should work fine.. BTW the battery worked fine in Vista, it's just a problem in windows 7.

Did some research for you, and one of the things that kept repeating was excess heat that has no where to go...Basically because of your cooling fans. Try clean your cooling ducts & your fan.

I'll do that when my dad comes from 800 miles away, because if I do it without permission, my dad will kill me.

800 miles away ._. Thats quite far, but yeah... Cleaning out your fans & cooling ducts can help a lot...I've done it with mine, and it overheats way less!

May I ask if the weight of the battery changed when you changed OS's or what ? B:

All I can say is get a replacement, laptop batteries these days are crap, and piss themselves quite quickly.
