I tried to install linux over my laptop... and it just corrupted everything. Would not boot or even load so I had to format my HD and reinstall windows.

I know it must be "idiot" proof, but seriously, shits hard.

Linux is source code. there isn't just one 'Linux' OS.

What distribution did you try to install? - Btw, it's not hard at all.

CentOS, I had issues installing on my VM. Kept freezing when I selected "Install".

I've installed ubuntu on my 2nd harddrive, and both my laptops.

Shit's good, easy, user friendly and is epic (I can play minecraft at 30 FPS on it compared to 7 on windows!)

I meant to say ubuntu instead of linux. I don't understand what happened.

I've never tried installing Linux so I have no idea but maybe it's a corrupted download? Try downloading it again and see if that works.

The 11.04 pisses me off and you'd be better using the 10.11 or 10.04.
Not to mention I couldn't get the 11.04 setup to work for shit. I had to upgrade though the update manager and 11.04 is HORRIBLE.

Always check the md5sum when you have downloaded an image, to make sure it is not corrupted. Just make a partition where you want to set up your linux shit, and then install on there. Nothing should happen to your windows...

Whatever you do, just don't install 11.04; it's a hunk of shit :L
You're better off going with the 10.10 Maverick distro; it's so much more stable and epic

You should talk to @"x04a" . he helped me set up my CentOS VPS and he really knows the map of linux. He charged me 4m tho (took him an hour or so to do it)
