Online Radio

I feel I know a way to get Runegear more active. You guys should add an online radio , with the amount of members created so far, I think there will be enough people to participate that it could probably go 24/7.

How does this benefit Runegear? Well it seems you guys have been looking for something to add to the forums to increase the activity, and probably want to add something original and here it is! No other fansites currently own a radio, it would be a brilliant idea.

How much would this cost? Online radios are up to the extent that you wish to pay. You can host this on your own computer/vps or you can pay for an online radio host which ranges depending on the number of people listening.

Would this be profitable? Absolutely! First off, with an online radio, it will keep members on runegear longer, meaning more people will click ads, and you will make more money. Also, you can sell advertisement spots on the radio, inbetween each hour, you can set an automated advertisement.

Who would set this up? I already know how to setup an online radio, I can help you set this up, I just wont create an online radio myself because I am no good at advertisements, so having one would mean I would have like maybe 2 listeners, where Runegear is already a well known forums, so the radio can have approximately 100 listeners 24/7.

How much effort will it take to maintain and manage? Well, I can be glad to be the radio management, I would be happy to put my time into maintaining the radio and getting DJs to help run the radio

Was it hosted on runegear? if so, what dj control panel did he use? it might be a different online radio that what I'm thinking of. I'm thinking of one that you can put the online radio on every page and there's a request form, dj control panel, dj timetable, etc.

I don't really see how it could increase activity, most people listen to different music so it would be hard to please people and if people want to listen to music they will usually just plugin their ipod/mp3 player or play off their itunes. Seems it would take up more space/bandwidth then it would help

It turns out that online radio just keep the members active because it's something to listen to while viewing the forums. and i don't really know what it is about online radios, maybe it's the fact it's someone else playing the songs for you, but whenever I listen to music, i prefer to listen to online radios than to listen to my own music. A lot of times I prefer not to listen to my own songs, I prefer having a radio to choose for me to expand my music preferences.

Also, the DJs can host competitons on the radio which will keep users more active to know when the competition will be.

I woner how many times this has been suggested, denied, OR some one took it into their own hands to make an un-official radio for RG and failed... miseraby, oh wait, about 2 times.

Yeah, I did it twice and it failed.
I had the option to embed it to the RG pages but yeah, it only had like 3 listeners because you can't please everyone's taste.

I'm g-oing to have to not support this idea, simply because I listen to my own music when I browse RuneGear and other forums I will not disclose. Plus, Rune Gear is still kind of inactive, so you'd have maby 3-7 listeners per day, maby less. It's would take up a mass amount of bandwidth as well. It would not be something The Elite would add. It has been suggested three times by the way. Who knows though, there could be some possibility The Elite could change his mind.
