The orange glare is distracting and too over the top.
The grunge look is not handles well.
The image in the background should be obscure, but not to the point where it just looks like you covered it with a color.
The square in the top left is also distracting.
The green is too sparse to make a difference, and it just looks out of place.

The reasons you dislike it should have nothing to do with the color choices.

Actually, every comment that I recieved on gfxf about me gundam tag are positive feedback, take a look:

cool style! Liking the colors a lot, but maybe use a slightly darker tone of pink in the background and i would say that the render needs just a bit more contrast to stand out. Very nice tag overall :angel:

Man, I'm loving the colors in this. But like RedEyes said, add some more contrast to the render to make him stick out more. For some reason I feel like the yellow bar on the right sticks out to much and doesn't look very good, but that's just me.

This is a good style for you Van! You should work at it. I think (Like others have said) make the focal (Render) stand out more. Also I don't think you shouldn't of included the yellow border style.

Sexy. I love the text here and I don't even mind that it's half the size of your canvas. The only complaints I have here is that the C4Ds in the background aren't noticeable, and the render blends in a *bit* too much. I wouldn't have it stick out because it doesn't work with this style, but a little something to make it more noticeable to the eye would benefit you.

I didn't see you post a second version. I think it looks far better than the first. Things seem to really flow. I know the style looked kind of grungy and disconnected while connected, but I think the tag came out great.
