Should a person be put back into jail if they prove that they're innocent after being convicted?

Example:
John was arrested one day for robbing a store. John failed to prove his innocence in court, and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. While in prison, John thought up of a way to prove that he's innocent. John breaks out of jail and proves he's innocent.

The court finds John innocent in the initial case, but escaping jail is a crime!

Should John be put back into jail because he broke out?

Not only should John not go back to jail, he should file a civil suit for pain and suffering and loss of wages and false imprisonment.

Saw a case where a guy spent 7 years in prison and was "happy that it was just over, and didn't resent the penal system."
I wouldn't be so okay with it.

If someone can prove their innocence, they are released from jail and given compensation for the time spent there.

If they were wrongly imprisoned, I think the fact that they broke out of jail would be overlooked.
Personally, I would overlook it.
Being wrongly accused for a crime seems like one of the shittiest things to happen, I think that compensation is needed, and even then that's not enough.

Umm i dont think that he should be let out if he breaks out of jail to prove that he is innocent he can do that in jail be not getting into trouble fights and such and doing what he is told and when his parole comes up they see his record.
now if they were put in there and they didnt commit a crime that's diff story

I believe they should be put back in prison, however there should be a different sentence which is shorter for breaking out.

Even if they are innocent, breaking out of a prison is an offence and you should be punished for your actions.

If you are truly innocent then hopefully you should be proven not guilty however I believe they should bring in some higher tech equipment such as lie detectors to see about their status'.

These could then be backed up by further/repeat tests.

Just my opinion guys :p

He shouldn't be put back in jail because it's morally wrong. But, I believe the government doesn't give 2 fucks about morals lol

Well no. If he did that much time, and was innocent, he would sue. Anyway, why does he need to break out to prove that he is innocent?
