Our Universe

I created this thread for discussion the discussion of space, time, and the Universe. Feel free to discuss anything legitimate below.

There are the three spacial demensions that everybody knows, which are height, width, and length. However, there is a fourth dimension, a temporal dimension, known as time. Time is a result of the Universe's expansion, and, therefore, only moves, as we see it, in one direction. As you may have witnessed during your life, everything has the tendency to dissipate. The burnt rubber off of a tire never goes back to the tire, or the blood from a wound never goes back to its owner, or how the heat from the sun always moves outward into space. The universe constantly moves towardes a state of entropy, or disorder. This is due to the temporal dimension of time.

Let's discuss how even though the universe is infinite, we're almost out of fuel.

According to scientists, we have 15m years left.

What about after 15m years? I want my (Great x 10^16) Grandchildren to drive diesel trucks.

The Earth doesn't have unlimited resources. The Universe is constantly building more planets with fuel, however. The guy above you said we have 15m years left on Earth... And you reply with "what about after 15m years?" Stop asking such idiotic questions...

@Yeah Scientists don't have a clue about how many years our species has left on this earth. I don't know where you got 15 million from...

My apologies, I didn't realize that the phrase "Feel free to discuss anything below." meant that I couldn't discuss the longevity of our fuel supply/ the human race, for that matter.

From now on, I'll just keep my comment's to myself.

good day.

I don't see,how being a Christian affects your beliefs on the longevity of humanity, or the Earth?

Also, the fact is wrong in the first place. Earth will continue to exist for another 5 billion years approximately, and it's impossible to judge how long humans will exist for, although I think 15 million is too long. By that time we will have evolved from humans into something more suited to the environment we are currently living in.

Because being a Christian means you follow God's rules, not man's rules. >.<

That still doesn't make sense, I don't think anyone's 'rules' control how long either the Earth or humans will exist for.

Well its more than obvious that mans rules overule gods. One can draw this conclusion simply by observing a few weeks worth og events on this pathetic planet.

When you said you dont "believe" it, you reminded me of a toddler plugging their ears and babbling to ignore the truth. Just because you choose to ignore facts, doesnt mean they arent facts.

One big problem with religion that you have just demonstrated here for us, is that it tells you that all of the answers are known, and that all problems will be taken care of by god. Clearly they aren't, and so instead of learning on your own, forming your own opinion and adjusting it accordingly, everything you think you know about the universe and how it works is set in stone. You're a sitting duck, a useless body that has been brainwashed. You leave it up to god rather than taking responsibility yourself. You pray, and wait for god. But he never comes.

Alt gave a death threat to someone a while back over that person being Christian. I'm not surprised he can't debate intelligently.

It also means doing what you are told regardless of what is right. However, no one's really a Christian anyways. No one follows the doctrine close to wholly thanks to the secularization and reformation of it. People would be on death row, in prison forever or in an asylum for the criminally insane if they followed their doctrine wholeheartedly.

The first dimension is an infinite amount of single points stacked upon eachother, the second is an infinite amount of lines stacked upon eachother, the third is an infinite amount of planes stacked upon eachother, the fourth (commonly misinterpreted as time) is an infinite amount of 3D shapes inside each other. It is impossible to imagine the fourth dimension in a 3D universe, much like an organism in a 2D universe not knowing what depth is.

Are you claiming that I'm misinterpreting time as a temporal dimension? I'm speaking of the dimensions we live in, which are the 3 spacial dimensions, and a temporal dimension. If you want to go on about multiple dimensions. String theory states there are 9 spacial dimensions, and one temporal dimension... I'm glad you're explaining to everyone what a fourth SPACIAL dimension would be like, but I don't appreciate "commonly misinterpreted as time".
