Im painting for first shell for a customer within the next week or so.
Its for a TLR 8ight EU and the shell is a replica of the one seen on the box but with a few changes. Im also painting my own too which will be a bit similar but with green and yellow.

Heres the plan I made in photoshop:

Heres the one you see on the box:

Ill post the finished product when im done.

They are just stickers and can be put on afterwards. But they dont provide the shell with the car so if you want that design you have to make it yourself.

Yer i took a photo of my old bodyshell, whitened it and then added the lines.
Then im free to add designs etc. I do it to all my shells so I can make sure the design looks good before I paint it.

They included a clear shell so that you can paint your own. Most racers paint their own shell to be unique. It would be pritty shocking if all the cars looked the same

Because he won NeoBuggy in 2010 he got the spot on the European version of the Losi 8ight.

I personally dont like the idea of copying a current shell but what the customer wants is what the customer gets.

well it kinda makes sence to have a clear shell to paint with your own deigne in mind, and what about copyright or some bulls**t like that with this french guy and his shell? wouldn't that be a problem?

nah nobodies gonna copyright their own shell. They often pay someone to pay someone else to do it for them and even they wont car if you copy it tbh. If anything it should be a compliment as it shows that you like their design
Although there might be some rule about racing two or mroe of the same shell in the same race, causing problems i mentioned before.
One guy I know does it for a living, but he is so worth it. Ill post some examples of his work soon.

I usually use masking tape etc to paint my designs but its quite messy and its a pain to cut the masking tape the the correct size and shape etc.
So ive got some liquid mask which is like a glue, you apply about 3-4 coats of the stuff, leave it to dry and after you score out a design with a craft knife you can peal the bits you want. Its quite cool and much easier to use (he says)
The last time i used the stuff i didnt apply enough coats of it so when i came to peal it, it just kept breaking and i got so pissed of i stuck the craft knife through the shell. Oh the joys when your patience runs out.

Anyway, ive finished drawing the designs onto the outside of the body. Well almost, my marker pen ran out.
Im racing tomorrow again but afterwards im going to get this liquid mask down and take it to Uni so I can get it sorted for when I come back next weekend.
Ill take some step my step pictures so that you know whats what if you'd like.

yer sounds nice just shut your windows when you do it in case you loose your patience and throw it
and a tut on how to do it might be good if your taking pics

yer there are a few tutorials out there, but its gonna take practice
You can buy rattle cans for simple paint jobs but for better designs you need an airbrush.
It also saves on paint too because you dont use asmuch.
