Paintball kicks ass, I usually only play scenario games. I played the BC Bud Bowl at panther paintball last month won a Empire Trracer pump gun there haha. My setup is a BT TM-15 with an Invert Halo Too Hopper and a Pure Energy 4500psi HPA Tank. Gen X Global Tactical vest for my remote line with the chuck and DYE i4 Goggles. As you can see I'm more into scenario/bush ball haha
I love paintball, however, I don't have my own gun. Sometimes I go and play paintball at a paintball course and rent a gun. I love the game but it's expensive to play if you go to a course.
Rental guns suck so bad man, even if you go buy a BT Omega for $110 bucks it will school the standard rental tippmanns. Plus most of the time fields have deals for owners, like the one near my house has a $5 entry fee/all day air refills and deals on paint. Over time if you have your own guns, Its definitely cheaper in the long term
And where do you play, what gun do you have? Put more detail into your posts, question even asks for them. Not hard for an extra 20-50 characters. And I hear you on the cleaning the gun part.. I hate getting shot in the facemask/goggles.
People don't need to buy that crap straight away, I highly suggest buying a Custom 98: It's the ak47 of the paintball industry. Its a good gun to get a grasp on maintenance and it will shoot under water.

I used the Custom 98 as my rental for my first game. It isn't the best, and it is incomparable in stats compared to the ak47. But it gets the job done.
