PayPal Question!

I'm from the UK, and I'm trying to buy something from someone in the US. It's $50 which is about £30 in the UK, so would I have to send him £30 from my side, then when he gets it it will say $50?

Any advice would be appreciated as I'm a little stuck:/

P.S - I've never used Paypal in my life LOL, so this is probably a stupid af question.

Okay, thanks. Is there not a way on my side to convert it to dollars before I send?

In that little box where your option says what you're currently paying in, click that and press "US Dollars" if you scroll down a bit, then you should send the money of as usual, and he'll get in dollars.

£30 = $45.09.
