I was browsing a thread and came across a thread which had url shorteners which direct us to another site which makes the OP money. I would highly suggest banning url shorteners or shrinkers.

Such as adf.ly? I don't know why you would bother with tht site, you wouldn't get much money at all, I've tried and I literally quit after I got 25 cents. It's stupid

Nonetheless it is advertising. Either make url shorteners banned or just tell us to report it under advertising. Just wanted it clarified.

It isn't against the rules, but I remove them as it's a easy way to get infected.

That is a good point so what should be the verdict?

In some cases it is harmless and yet beneficial as it actually does what it's used for, shortening a URL. I guess we can create our own URL shortner? It's not difficult, simply get a script online.

Let them be because the elite won't get rid of them I think, just mass report them or tell the elite the problem with it.

They should be allowed. If someone is realizing a free download of something, they might put that in there so you give back to them for the download. It might not be much, but it ads up over time.

These should be banned imho. As said above they could be used to infect other members.
