I for one am somewhat religious and I pray quite rarely. I believe that one’s spiritual level is the single most important factor in ensuring that one’s prayers are answered. If a person is sceptical about the act of prayer in general or have doubts they are not likely going to get out of it what they were seeking. Many will argue that prayer doesn't solve any real world problems that affect us as human beings. I don't believe this is true. For example, praying for world peace is most likely not to be answered due to the lack of spiritual level of the people. In order for prayer to work I believe there needs to be belief in it.

In comparison of a theists prayers and an atheists hopes, who do you think would have more success in theory?

Well, based off several prayer studies, it'll will most likely show you similar results that there is no distinct or significant difference, but your beliefs say otherwise. Yet hold no valid evidence.


That's another unfalsifiable hypothesis to answer superstitious beliefs, and unfalsifiable hypotheses are never valid arguments.

I've given others the same scenario you gave in the OP with choking, its a beautiful question isnt it? Seems as though nobody answered it directly and instead gave personal experiences, which is fine I guess. My personal experience:

Atheists and other non-believers are very quick to tell you they would want you to help them. People of "faith" on the other hand entirely avoid the question or are very unsure of what to say. Just an observation.

Prayers do work if you have the right intention and believe in God. I pray to all Gods and believe that all are equal. Above God, there is humanity which matters and if you are a good human, your prayers are always answered and not if you only pray and do no good for any person. Help others and God will help you.

What's your proof that prayers work?

Prayers are not always answered, I don't need to debate with you on that. Patheism is an illogical belief since it contradicts so much religious scripture.

I believe in the power of prayers. I have gone into many difficult situations.I just keep my faith in God and keep praying, and he always there to help and guide me.

prayer is like Yoga
its affects our body and and remove negative thoughts and fulfil its needs.Whenever i feel i m in problem i offer prayer and believe guys it helps alot

I believe in prayer. Because when all else is shut, prayer is your only way to ease your body and mind. Takes all the stress away because you know at some point you have asked help or guidance and assistance. It will just work it's magic.

Well, you guys will one day realize that prayer doesnt exist at the expense of your own life. Whether it be a slow an painful disease that kills you, or a violent car accident that leaves you bleeding out at the bottom of a cliff in the middle of no where. I can promise you, no one will save you, and you will die.

Well, yeah, reality bites.
But I believe that sometimes impossibilities can turn into possibilities. I believe that prayers, aura and karma are much alike. they are the unseen things in our life that affects time and events.

I believe prayer works but there's no need to fold your hands and close your eyes, god hears no matter what.

But only when your eyes is closed that you don't be distracted by what is moving around you. You get to focus on the connection with your soul and the immortal being.

As stated in the Bible, pray without ceasing. Even if you are running, studying, playing games, let your heart pray. Well, me I don't know how to do those. I just keep my heart clear.

So, are you saying you admit that prayer is but a placebo, possibly influenced by other phenomena foreign to science? Just wondering if I understood that correctly.

It's not like that. It's not a placebo. it has a effect. Turning impossibilities to possibilities. that's the effect.

Well it seems as though you have a much greater understanding of how this prayer thing works. Do you know whats its limitations, exceptions and rules are? So far you have been pretty vague in your description.
