Profile Comments

I think we should add this plugin that lets us add profile comments. It would just be a nice addition to the forum, and it would let members talk to each other directly on the site without having to use private messages.

I found this plugin, and even though it hasn't been updated in over a year, it will still works! I tried it on a test forum.

I'm actually surprised that this hasn't been suggested before.

If it has, I'm sorry, I did a search, and only posts from UG came up, and I didn't want to bump one of them.

A person's feelings can get hurt through a post, yet we still let people do it.

This is the same thing as rep really.

But rep is better since People need to buy membership to use it.

I've never thought about reputation like that.

I'd still rather have Profile Comments though because it is nicer than giving neutral reputation. Most people look at neutral reputation as a bad thing.

In the end profile comments is just going to be another way people flame each other.

May aswell make them pay to flame and just keep rep. But dont get me wrong this is a good idea.

Yeah I'm going to have to agree with this. It's a great idea, but there are already 2 ways you leave a positive, neutral, or negative vouch/rep. and people are just going to mainly flame with this.

Yeah, guess that would be the main and only downside, but flaming is against the rules anyways.

But untill staff inforces getting banned for flaming then its still not a great idea. If you notice in alot of peoples rep, there are rude comments but never removed.

I think you are missing the point that people can flame through a post too, and I'm sure that there are enough staff members here to deal with a little bit of flaming here and there.

Also, I'm sure that a staff member would remove somebody's reputation if the person who received it would report it.

I dont know man. We had issues in the past with rep and its now calmed down alittle.

I think personally its to soon for another kind of system like this. But im not staff so you should show philly this thread.

I really want this to be added still...

I'm tired of using the reputation system as a "comment" system. It's ridiculous.

Also, I want some modern opinions since a lot has changed since I posted this thread.

I would personally actually just use the reputation system..
I can just imagine people abusing it already.
I think it is worth a try though.

People can abuse in posts, vouches, reputation, PMs, etc. Just about everything can be abused. >_>
