Simple question really, does the government have the right to dicate what we as citizens put in our bodies?

Opinions please.

This is not about weed but "illicit" drugs in general.

Yes because what the fuck happens when you idiots inhale those illegal toxins? Your brain acts different. And what happens when your brain can't function right? Your reflexes can't react correctly. And what happens if you're driving and get into an accident or possibly kill somebody? Then they die, and you go to jail for murder!

I couldn't think of a better way of saying it.

What like the hundreds if not thousands of people that die every year due to drunk drivers? And you do you realize that some of these "illicit" drugs improve your reaction time? So your argument isn't really valid as I wasn't talking about any specific drug, I was talking about illegal drugs in general, uppers and downers. By your rational anything that may impair your reflexes should be illegal. So should we ban all those sedative anti histamines which impair reflexes such a Phenergan and Benadryl?

If they can't regulate what we do to out bodies, does that make something like self-harm ok?
The answer is no.

Two of the biggest killers are OK according to the government. But drugs far less harmful are not. If that is how the government regulates what we put in our body they are retarded when it comes to the regulation of substances. The UK government actually fired their chief drug adviser for telling the truth by saying MDMA and Cannabis are far less harmful than Alcohol and Tobacco.

They should only have the right if by doing this we harm others around us. Its the same logic that suicide is illegal actually.

I was kinda drunk and worded the original post wrong. This thread is purely about the prohibition of banned substances.

I agree, of course there would have to be safety regulations put in place to try and avoid harm to others in the same way as with Alcohol and Tobacco. But what one puts in his own body is a personal right and should be not criminalized doing so. Prohibition doesn't even work anyway.

i think that anyone should be able to do whatever they want. but the thing is. when people are on drugs etc. there brain works differently. and when they are not in the right frame of mind, they act different. sometimes hurting others around them. the main reason we cant do anything we want is we can hurt others. and secondly, they cant make money off alot of things that we can illegally consume.

No they should not control people but they should have control of how much they use because it can be somewhat harmful to other people

The recreational drugs business is one of the biggest business' in the world, they would make a shit load of cash off of the taxation of drugs like MDMA, LSD, Mephedrone, Cocaine, Cannabis, Shrooms, and countless others.

Well obviously regulations would have to be put in place so that people don't drive or anything whilst on these drugs.
